Precast Fireplace before grout. Travertine floor. 洞石，学名叫做石灰华(Travertine),是一种多孔的岩石，所以通常人们也叫它洞石。洞石属于陆相沉积岩，它是一种碳酸钙的沉积物。洞石大多形成于富含碳酸钙的石灰石地形，是由溶于水中的钙碳酸钙及其他矿物沉积于河床、湖底等地而形成的。由于在重堆积的过程中有时会出现孔隙，同时由于其自身的主要成分又是碳酸钙，自身就很容易被水溶解腐蚀，所以这些堆积物中会出现许多天然的无规则的孔洞。由于天然洞石的独特的形成过程，所以在划分上也有些混乱，有的把它划到大理石，因为它是有石灰石形成的，而有的却还是把它当成是石灰石，毕竟他没有经过变质过程。
